The First Image of Shia LeBeouf in ‘The Tax Collector’ Shows the Film’s Dark Theme

We all know just how zany and out-of-the-box actor Shia LaBeouf has been over the years. From his “I am not famous anymore” art piece on red carpet in 2014 to the viral video and song that portrayed LeBeouf as a cannibal living in the woods, we’re never quite sure what to expect next from the former Disney star.

In the first feature image of LeBeouf for the upcoming film The Tax Collector, we see yet another intense and very dark side of LeBeouf.

Director David Ayer tweeted out the following photo on August 10th:

Although not much is known about the upcoming film’s plot, we do know that LeBeouf will likely portray the “tax collector,” and this character is bound to be a dark one. With an entire torso covered in tattoos, a cigarette in one hand, and a cup of mystery liquid in the other, this guy is clearly not someone to mess around with. People are now comparing this character to Ayer’s controversial Joker portrayed by Jared Leto, and we can certainly see why.

The Tax Collector is said to be along the same vain as Ayer’s Training Day and End of Watch, but only time will tell.

LeBeouf is currently working on an autobiographical project in which he will portray his potentially abusive father called Honey Boy. Actors portraying younger versions of LeBeouf include A Quiet Place‘s Noah Jupe and Manchester by the Sea‘s Lucas Hedges.
