Tarsem Singh’s The Fall was just confirmed to be getting a new re-release, remastered in 4K. The release comes from Mubi. The Fall follows a stuntman telling an injured little girl a story about superheroes, but the story begins to bleed into reality as it progresses. While Singh took up directing, he was also one of three writers for the script, along with Nico Soultanakis and Dan Gilroy.
Soultanakis has collaborated with Singh before on several other projects, including Mirror Mirror, Immortals, and Self/less. Gilroy, however, wrote and directed Nightcrawler and Velvet Buzzsaw, while serving as a writer on Kong: Skull Island and The Bourne Legacy.
As Deadline reports, The Fall didn’t stick the landing when it first came out. Made on a reported budget of about $30 million, the film only made a low total of $3.6 million worldwide. Getting middle-of-the-road reviews when it came out, the film currently sports a 7.8/10 on IMDb and a 62% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience score of 85% reflects the place the film has taken as time went on, as it eventually gained a cult following and a dedicated base of fans.
The re-release is slated to appear in September of this year.
