With a slew of nominations coming out for the awards season, the Art Directors Guild Awards has announced their own nominations as well. The announcement also comes in the wake of the SAG Awards announcing their respective nominations.
The nominations have set a category specifically for Period Feature Films, selecting A Complete Unknown, The Brutalist, Gladiator II, Nosferatu, and Saturday Night for nomination. Complete Unknown, Nosferatu, and Gladiator II, among the group, all became big hits at the box office across the holidays. Similarly, The Brutalist has already been a big winner this awards season, taking home several accolades at the Golden Globes.
Another box office darling from the holiday season, Moana 2, is up for nomination in the category of Animated Feature Film. Alongside it are titles like Flow, Inside Out 2, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, and The Wild Robot. Much like The Brutalist, Flow was able to take home the win in its respective category at the Golden Globes as well.
Contemporary Feature Film has selected Civil War, Conclave, Emilia Pérez, The Substance, and Twisters for nomination within that category.
Finally, Fantasy Feature Film nominated Alien: Romulus, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Dune: Part Two, Furiosa: A Mad Mad Saga, and Wicked.
Hollywood Reporter, who also posted the full list of nominees for film and television, noted that the award’s separate Cinematic Imagery Award will be given to Jason Reitman this year.
The Art Directors Guild Awards will be held on February 15th.
