Apparently, Ben Affleck does not have to wear cape and cowl to put the fear of god into criminals. Warner Bros. reminds us in their new action thriller The Accountant that not all seemly harmless accountants are what they appear to be.
Over the weekend, a new trailer was released for Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant. Affleck stars as Christian Wolff, a quiet math genius who is a lot more than he leads on. As a forensic accountant, he owns a legal CPA business, but only as a front to disguise his actual career; he handles the books for some of the most dangerous people in the world. Dangerous territory for some, but luckily for Wolff, he happens to be a trained killer. He will be put to the test when he takes on a new client, portrayed by Anna Kendrick. Kendrick enlists Wolff for his expertise, in hopes that they can uncover corporate corruption. While helping Kendrick uncover this crucial information, Wolff is subject to his own investigation by the Treasury Department. His less than friendly clients become weary of his allegiance and question if he is a liability.
The Accountant sounds like a nail-biter for sure. Warner Brothers’ is all in on Affleck, The Accountant is just one of four films he’s attached to. Of course, we will see Affleck chase down Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad, August 5th, but he is also set to star in Live by Night, scheduled for January 27th.
