The 63rd Edition Of The New York Film Festival Announces Main Slate Lineup

The New York Film Festival has announced the selections for its 2025 edition, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In its 63rd year, the festival will be screening 34 films from across the globe, ranging from Cannes award winners like Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, Oliver Laxe’s Sirât, Mascha Schilinski’s Sound of Falling, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent, and Bi Gan’s Resurrection, to Berlin with Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You starring Rose Byrne and Conan O’Brien (with the former winning the Silver Bear for best leading performance) and Radu Jude’s Kontinental ’25 (which won the Silver Bear for best screenplay, to Venice with Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly (starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler), Kathryn Bigelow’s A House of Dynamite, Kent Jones’ Late Fame and Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice.

Kicking off the festival on Opening Night will be Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt (starring Julia Roberts), with its Centerpiece being Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother, and the world premiere of Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On? set to close it.

The artistic director of the New York Film Festival, Dennis Lim, spoke about the wide variety of this year’s slate, saying,

“​​Anyone who cares about film knows that it is an art in need of defending, like many of our core values today…I am particularly struck by the diversity of approaches and forms among the films in this Main Slate, which affirms that the art of cinema is more than capable of thriving, even in difficult times.”

Screening venues for the festival include Lincoln Center, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, AMC Bay Plaza Cinema, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and the Museum of the Moving Image.

The 2025 New York Film Festival will take place from September 26 to October 13.
