According to The Hollywood Reporter, the lineup for the 58th edition of the Director’s Fortnight sidebar at the Cannes Film Festival has been revealed. The news was revealed on Tuesday to show this year’s debut and feature films.
Butterfly Jam will be the opening feature that has notable names such as Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six, The Girlfriend Experience), Harry Melling (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Queen’s Gambit), and Barry Keoghan (Eternals, Dunkirk). The drama is directed by Kantemir Balagov (Closeness, Beanpole), a Russian director, and the film will be his debut in English.
Clarissa is a reinterpretation of Virginia Wolf’s novel Mrs. Dalloway, set in Nigeria, will also be premiering on the Fortnight sidebar. The film will be directed by filmmaker brothers Chuko Esiri (This Is My Desire, Besida) and Arie Esiri (Innocent, B for Boy). The film stars Sophie Okonedo (The Secret Life of Bees, After Earth), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear, Bottoms), and David Oyelowo (Jack Reacher, Selma). Claire Denis (Let the Sunshine In, Stars at Noon), a French director, will be awarded the Fortnight’s Carrosse d’Or lifetime achievement honor for 2026. The Director’s Fortnight will occur from May 13 to the 23rd.
