While many thought that Avengers: Endgame would be the last time audiences saw Thanos in the MCU, rumors are circulating that the villain will appear in the upcoming Eternals film. Thanos’ comic co-creator Jim Starlin suggested that the character would make “guest appearance” in Eternals during a recent podcast interview that took place on the ComicBook Twitch Channel.
“I believe I heard some rumors that he’s [Thanos] coming back in different things,” Starlin said. “I think I’ve heard … confirmed from Marvel Studios is that he’s going to be … at least a guest appearance inside the Eternals, so he’s gonna be around. This is not anything I’m making up. This is something I’ve read somewhere.”
There’s still no official confirmation that we’ll see Josh Brolin’s portrayal of the mad titan in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. Some are speculating that he’ll appear in a flashback of some kind that would tie into the origins of the title characters.
As long as The Eternals isn’t delayed again, we should find out if the rumors are true when the film releases November 5, 2021. The film has an all-star cast that includes Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani and Barry Keoghan.
