In a recent conversation with W Magazine, Tessa Thompson spilled some new details on her character Valkyrie’s powers in the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder.
“She has weird skills, to be honest. She can sense when someone is close to death, and she takes them into Valhalla, which is essentially the afterlife. She can revive people. But when she revives people, sometimes she ends up in their body. It’s a weird thing. It can be quite erotic. And then she has superhuman strength and is essentially God.”
These new powers should make for some interesting plot points in the new film, which is no surprise coming from the visionary mind of Taika Waititi. Thor: Ragnarok breathed new life into the Thor franchise in 2018 and that trend is sure to be continued here. The ending of Avengers: Endgame saw Thor pass on the royal title of Asgard to Valkyrie and Thompson confirms that she has taken on that mantle and that the film will show a Valkyrie with new responsibility. She also teases new and old characters to appear and cross over with the main Thor ensemble.
Thor: Love and Thunder stars Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie alongside Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Natalie Portman reprising her role as Jane Foster. The film is set to release on July 8, 2022.
