There’s been a lot of buzz around Terrence Malick’s upcoming film projects this month, with IMAX announcing its attachment to the director’s epic documentary Voyage of Time, and the world premiere of Knight of Cups at the Berlin International Film Festival. Most recently, Broad Green Pictures has announced it is establishing a creative partnership with the acclaimed director. The company joined the Voyage of Time distribution team along with IMAX earlier in the month, and has also acquired the U.S. distribution rights to both Knight of Cups plus an untitled film that is currently in post-production.
In a press release, Broad Green Pictures describes the partnership as a “collaborative home” for Malick as well as a “platform for [his] innovation.” It’s too early to tell what that will actually entail, but the partnership suggests Malick’s newfound prolificness (he’s directed more films since 2005 than he did in the three decades before) will continue. Little is known about the untitled film Malick is currently working on, though the press release reports it will have an all-star cast, including Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, and Cate Blanchett. The latter two also star in Knight of Cups along with Christian Bale.
