News out of the Cannes Film Festival places actress Teresa Palmer (Point Break) as the lead in the first ‘Ridley Scott Presents…’ genre film titled The Twisted. Produced by Scott and wife Giannina through their company Cara Films alongside PalmStar Media (Sing Street), the film is hitting the Cannes market this week hoping to pick up distribution.
With a script written by Ari Schlossberg (Hide and Seek) and Natasha Pinkus, the story follows an adolescent psychologist with a troubled past of her own. She is dispatched to an orphanage to investigate some children exhibiting peculiar symptoms after an extraterrestrial encounter. Television director Olatunde Osunsanmi (Falling Skies) will helm the project.
Scott is ready to kick off production beginning on June 15, and with a headlining star now locked in, that won’t be an unrealistic goal. As the remaining cast falls into place, the inaugural Ridley Scott Presents… film will be well on its way. Just yesterday, Scott also attached himself to the project Wraiths of the Broken Land with his Martian scribe Drew Goddard.
Palmer’s most recent theater outings include last year’s Point Break, 2016’s Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Choice, and most recently, John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine. She will next be seen alongside Black Panther Chadwick Boseman in Message from the King and in Mel Gibson’s latest Hacksaw Ridge.
