Teaser Trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s Stop-Motion ‘Pinocchio’ Film Released

The teaser trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming stop-motion musical adaptation of Pinocchio was released. The teaser shows Ewan McGregor voicing Cricket, giving us an introduction to the story.

The iconic story centers around a wooden marionette who is brought to life to ease the heart of a wood carver named Geppetto. The film is co-directed by Del Toro and Mark Gustafson.

Alongside McGregor, Pinocchio will star David Bradley as Geppetto, Gregory Mann as Pinocchio, as well as John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Finn Wolfhard, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton.

“No art form has influenced my life and my work more than animation and no single character in history has had as deep of a personal connection to me as Pinocchio,” del Toro said in a statement back when the project was greenlit in 2018 “In our story, Pinocchio is an innocent soul with an uncaring father who gets lost in a world he cannot comprehend. He embarks on an extraordinary journey that leaves him with a deep understanding of his father and the real world. I’ve wanted to make this movie for as long as I can remember.”

The film was written by Del Toro and Patrick McHale. Pinocchio will be released on Netflix in December.
