A trailer for Tall Girl, a new Netflix original movie coming out this September, has already been released. The film will be directed by Nzingha Stewert, with Sam Wolfson being responsible for writing its script. Tall Girl is a coming of age dramedy that follows the story of a high school student named Jodi who, who as the title suggests, is a very tall girl. Not only does Jodi have to face the typical struggles and heartbreak that plague all teenagers, but she must also deal with the struggles of being the tallest girl in her high school. However Jodi’s life changes when a foreign exchange student named Stig arrives at her school, and it just so happens that Stig is just as tall, if not taller, than Jodi.
Jodi will be played by actress Ava Michelle, who stands at an impressive 6′ 1½” (1.87 m), making her perfect for the role. Acting alongside Michelle is equally tall actor Luke Eisner as Stig, Jodi’s possible love interest. Other cast members include Griffin Gluck and Anjelika Washington as Jodi’s friends and Sabrina Carpenter, who has been cast as Jodi’s sister Harper.
It seems like Tall Girl is the latest teen movie to come from Netflix. The streaming platform’s previous teen “coming of age” movies like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before have been pretty successful, so it’s safe to assume that Netflix will continue to make more of these films.
