According to Deadline, Taissa Farmiga (Buried Child) will star as a young nun in the thriller The Nun, a second spinoff from The Conjuring horror franchise. Annabelle was The Conjuring’s first spinoff; its sequel Annabelle: Creation will open on August 11. Corin Hardy (The Hallow) will direct from a script by Gary Dauberman and The Conjuring director James Wan. Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight) is also in the cast.
Wan and Peter Safran are producing the New Line film. Dauberman and Todd Williams are executive producers.
Farmiga, sister of Vera Farmiga (Burn Your Maps) who starred in The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2, has just wrapped up filming Elizabeth Chomko’s What They Had, starring two-time Academy Award nominated actor Michael Shannon (Nocturnal Animals) and two-time Academy Award winning actress Hilary Swank (You’re Not You). She recently appeared in Warren Beatty’s Rules Don’t Apply and in Ti West’s In a Valley of Violence.
The Nun is slated for theatrical release on July 13, 2018.
