Taika Waititi In Negotiations For Role In ‘The Suicide Squad’

Director and actor Taika Waititi is back at it again as it looks like he may be the newest addition to James Gunn‘s upcoming adaptation of The Suicide Squad according to sources at Deadline.

Setting himself for an already busy autumn in which Waititi will be doing press for the upcoming release of absurdist comedy Jojo Rabbit and beginning work on Next Goal Wins, now the director will also take part in James Gunn’s superhero film at Warner Bros in an undisclosed role.

Waititi would be enlisted in an already extensive cast including the talents of Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Flula Borg, Steve Agee, and Nathan Fillion. Gunn contributes to the film’s script with Chuck Roven, Nik Korda, and Peter Safran producing.

Waititi recently announced he would be directing Thor: Love and Thunder with Natalie Portman as the female Thor during Comic Con this July. Waititi exploded onto the scene with his creative vision in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, making it the highest grossing and most critically-successful in the Thor series. The New Zealand director also shot an episode of the upcoming Star Wars streaming series, The Mandalorian expected to arrive November 12th. Waititi is currently acting as the executive producer of FX vampire comedy What We Do In the Shadows based on his 2014 film and directed three episodes so far.
