SXSW is introducing a new program to its usual roster of events. They’ll be bringing on new programs specifically from the Motion Picture Association, with the goal to educate on several big issues and subjects that the MPA tackles.
Variety reports that the MPA will be opening SXSW themselves, with an event all about location shooting. Expected to be in attendance to speak on the topic will be Bryan Abrams, Adriana Cruz, Paul Jensen, and Steve Joyner.
Also built into the festivities will be an event covering piracy and how to combat it, which has been a prevalent issue within not only the film industry but the entertainment industry in general. Attendance will include Roman Corrigan, Peter Kidd, Larissa Knapp, and MacKenzie Sigalos.
Variety was also able to report that the MPA will be offering an in-depth conversation between Jennifer Salke and Courtenay Valenti, of Amazon MGM, alongside Charles Rivkin, the head of the MPA.
Rivkin expressed his excitement over MPA working with SXSW for this year, expressing his anticipation to be able to speak with so many others who appreciate the art form and to highlight many ongoing issues within the industry.
