Being one of the longest existing superheroes, Superman has had countless interpretations and depictions over the years, especially when it comes to the big screen. But before the newest Clark Kent, David Corenswet, could take flight, he sought out help from past men of steel.
The cast and crew of James Gunn’s Superman have been following the movie around as it debuts across the globe. While a new chapter in the ongoing story of Superman, the film also serves as a kickstart to a new continuity of DC film, with Corenswet’s Kal-El leading the way.
Before Corenswet could don the suit and cape, however, he reached out to the Supermen of yesterday to seek advice on playing the man of tomorrow. He got into contact with both Henry Cavill (Man Of Steel) and Tyler Hoechchlin (Superman & Lois), with both of them providing similar insight, as Variety reports.
Both actors declined giving Corenswet too much advice, with him even remarking that it’s very Superman-esque of them to encourage him to rely on his own strengths.
“They really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of ‘have fun with it’, which I think is Superman’s way of doing it too. They were very encouraging and we had a lovely experience,” he told Heart.
Superman hits theaters July 11th.
