According to Deadline, HBO Films has acquired a new thriller out of Sundance, Share. Writer-director Pippa Bianco makes her feature filmmaking debut. The movie is based on Bianco’s own 2015 short film of the same name, which won prizes at Cannes and SXSW. A24 acquired the short and developed it into a feature.
Share follows a 16 year old girl (Rhianne Barreto) who returns to school after an explicit video with herself on it goes viral – she has absolutely no recollection of the events of that night captured on video. She struggles to piece together what happened and deal with the aftermath. Also in the cast are Charlie Plummer, Poorna Jagannathan, J.C. MacKenzie, Nicholas Galitzine, Lovie Simone and Danny Mastrogiorgio. The movie premiered Friday at Sundance in the US Dramatic Competition.
Carly Hugo, Tyler Byrne, and Matt Parker are producing. This is the latest in the collaboration between A24 and HBO Films, which together have teamed on 2 Dope Queens, and the upcoming drama series Euphoria.
Share will air on HBO this year.
