CinemaCon is officially underway, and in a matter of ironic timing, a handful of Hollywood studios are in turmoil as they face leadership shits and disputes. Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman kicked off the convention Monday night by unveiling Sony’s slate of upcoming projects alongside co-President Josh Greenstein. As Warner Bros. studio chairs Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy take the Las Vegas Colosseum Tuesday evening, a tonal shift may follow suit. Amazon MGM Studios also fell victim to executive drama, as the night before the convention kicked off, studio head Jennifer Salke exited her role. The announcement was given internally via email by Prime Video/Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins, who will reportedly not be replacing Salke.
Little to no disputes are to be had over at the Universal and Disney conglomerates, which are both slated to hold large ceremonies at the convention come Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Check back with us as we update you on the upcoming slates of films announced over the next few days.
