Steven Yeun Reportedly Not Involved In Upcoming MCU Film ‘Thunderbolts’

Steven Yeun is reportedly not involved in the upcoming MCU project, Thunderbolts. Yeun was reportedly attached to the project, but Marvel never made an official statement on the casting.

Yeun is known to many as Glenn on AMC’s The Walking Dead. He’s gone on to star in a multitude of projects since his breakout role on The Walking Dead, such as critically acclaimed Minari, and is set to appear in Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming sci-fi flick, Mickey 17.

Yeun also headlines in Prime Video’s Invincible, starring as main character Mark Grayson. Both The Walking Dead and Invincible are based on works by Robert Kirkman.

Reports about Yeun starring in Thunderbolts started circulating in February of 2023, but Marvel never announced it. Now, sources are telling Hollywood Reporter that Yeun has no involvement after all. Five months ahead of the initial reports, Marvel announced at D23 that Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus would be leading the group of antiheroes on the big screen.

Jake Schreier is set to direct the film, which suffered a multitude of pushbacks due to last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike. With an original release date of July 2024, the film was pushed back a whole year to July of 2025, leaving fans to wait until then for the continuation of the main cast of characters.
