Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Fabelmans’ Casts David Lynch

Variety reports that celebrated director David Lynch will join Steven Spielberg’s newest project, a drama called The Fabelmans. This is the first collaboration between the pair despite them being in the industry for a similar amount of time.

Lynch is most known for his films Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, and Lost Highway, his most recent release being Inland Empire in 2006, another widely acclaimed film. Lynch is also one of the minds behind Twin Peaks, a mystery-horror film and TV series from the 1990’s.

Spielberg’s recent release of West Side Story, the first film depiction of the iconic musical since 1961, was met with a great reaction from audiences and critics, not to mention that it is a main contender for the upcoming awards season. Even with the recent release of West Side Story, Spielberg is already in post-production on The Fabelmans. Universal Pictures is set to release the film sometime around Thanksgiving this year.

Plot details remain scarce, but the film is said to be semi-autobiographical and will depict some of Spielberg’s life, particularly his childhood in Arizona. The cast also includes the likes of Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, Julia Butters, and Gabriel LaBelle. Spielberg and Tony Kushner wrote and produced with Kristie Macosko Krieger producing as well.
