Director and screenwriter Steven Spielberg will be presented with the Eva Monley Award by the Locations Managers Guild International at the 10th annual LMGI Awards on August 26.
Spielberg will be honored for his influence on generations of of film industry workers and moviegoers alike. LMGI believes that Spielberg pays particular attention to how locations play a part in each of his films.
“Steven Spielberg is a giant in our industry. His work has touched, inspired, and entertained millions of moviegoers and filmmakers from around the world. His films are timeless and his influence on the motion picture industry is immeasurable. We are so proud to be able to honor him as this year’s Eva Monley Award recipient,” said John Rakich, one of the cochairs of the LMGI Awards Committee.
The Eva Monley Award is given to an person who has made “exceptional contribution to the art and craft of filmmaking through their commitment to the use of real locations.” The LMGI Awards recognize achievements in location management in filmmaking and television across the globe, as well as in commercials and film commisions.
Spielberg’s award and several other lifetime achievement awards will come just in time for the LMGI’s 20th anniversary.
