Stephen King is no stranger to having his work adapted for the big screen. His writing has inspired countless film adaptations including The Shining (1980), Misery (1990) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994). Empire reports the latest adaptation will be that of his recent short story Bad Little Kid.
Laurent Bouzereau optioned the material, which King published back in March as a thank you for the warm welcome he received from his European fans when he toured in France and Germany last November. In the story, a mysterious boy is discovered who causes the deaths of those closest to him.
Bouzereau is primarily known for making documentaries – especially those of the “making-of” variety. His resume includes Roman Polanski: A Film Memoir, The Making of Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jaws’ and A Night at the Movies: The Horrors of Stephen King. Now it seems he is looking to get into the narrative feature business, and what better place to start than adapting the work of a proven storyteller?
