Famed horror novelist, Stephen King, has recently praised the new film, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which is based on the iconic horror novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. Featuring a cast of Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Nikolai Nikolaeff and Javier Botet, the movie was also praised by director Guillermo del Toro.
Although the movie hasn’t gotten the most stellar of reviews, glowing praise from two huge names in horror and fantasy certainly won’t hurt its chances.
I was doubtful about THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER, but it’s a throat-ripping good time. It reminded me of the best of the Hammer movies from the 60s and 70s.

Universal’s official description of the movie is as follows: “Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo – fifty unmarked wooden crates – from Carpathia to London. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.”
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is now available to watch in theaters worldwide.
