Arrow star Stephen Amell is suiting up as a different vigilante in Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, according to Variety. He is set to appear opposite the popular amphibious superheroes as Casey Jones, their zany ally and April O’Neil’s love interest. Former cast members Megan Fox (as O’Neil) and Will Arnett (as her cameraman Vern Fenwick) are slated to return, and will be accompanied by another recently announced cast member, supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio.
Dave Green (Earth to Echo) will be directing from a script penned by writing/producing partners Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec. Plot details are still unknown, but a release date has been set for June 3, 2016.
Amell has seemed to find his niche within Hollywood’s superhero world. Now that CW’s Arrow series has clearly taken off (it’s already been renewed for its fourth season) along with the rejuvenated DC Universe, it will be no surprise if Amell takes off with it. In addition to TMNT2, he is set to appear opposite Susan Sarandon (Lorenzo’s Oil) and Allison Janney (Tammy) in the comedy Whatever Makes You Happy.
