The late great Stan Lee has some animated superhero films in development, although neither of them are at Marvel, Collider reports. Kartoon Studios, which has a controlling interest in the Stan Lee Universe, including the rights to his name, likeness, signature, and consumer product licensing, as well as a package of up to 7 properties each year from his post-Marvel creations, is teaming up with GFM Animation in the UK to work on the first two projects of a joint slate: Heroes At Large and Silver Sentinel.
Heroes At Large follows Bill and Joe, who strain to remain friends whilst fighting the most powerful force in the galaxy, only to ultimately discover that friendship is their true superpower. Silver Sentinel follows Sentinel, a masked crime-fighting superhero by night and a business exec and PTA mom during the day. But things are made more complicated when the unexpected onset of superpowers worsens her 14-year-old daughter Joey’s coming-of-age struggles, and their typical mum/daughter conflicts increase as Sentinel’s powers decline and Joey’s blossom.
Per Deadline, Kartoon Studios and GFM have stated that the scripts for both films will be complete sometime this month, and production will commence later this year with a completion date in 2027.
Heroes At Large will be written and directed by Chris Jenkins, while Silver Sentinel will be written and directed by Todd Edwards and Timothy Hooten.
