H.P. Lovecraft is considered to be on of the greatest horror writers of the 20th century. Perhaps only Stephen King has been able to rival Lovecraft’s influence on the literary genre of horror. Since his death Lovecraft’s writing has influenced countless movies, television shows, and games.
Now the Collider reports that director Spike Lee is teaming up with the streaming service Netflix to work on a project based on Lovecraft’s work. Lee will serving as a producer on the upcoming Netflix movie, Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu. Stefon Bristol will be directing this movie. The script of this movie was written by Hank Woon and Fredrica Bailey.
As the title suggests Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu will be about Lovecraft’s most famous Cthulhu, a cosmic entity that debuted in the short story The Call of Cthulhu. Cthulhu is described as a monstrous winged creature with sharp claws and an octopus like head.
The plot of Gordon Hemingway & The Realm of Cthulhu is not a straight adaptation of the story of The Call of Cthulhu. The movie will be about a black man named Gordon Hemingway who teams up with a warrior princess from Ethiopia to rescue her country’s regent from the forces of evil.
