Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to smash box office records in its opening weekend. The film has already made $168 million domestically, with $72 million of that coming from both Amazon Prime Early Access showings on Wednesday and Thursday preview screenings. With these numbers, the film has officially surpassed Avengers: Endgame‘s 157.4 million to become the biggest opening day in box office history.

Projections for the rest of the weekend are even higher. The film is currently projected to make between $325 million and $358 million, which, again, surpasses records previously set by Avengers: Endgame, which made $357.1 million domestically in its opening weekend back in 2019. Worldwide, the film is estimated to make around $875 million and $925 million, which would be the second-highest worldwide box office debut behind Avengers: Endgame, which made $1.2 billion worldwide in its opening weekend.

The film is set to be number one at the domestic box office, but its performance isn’t stifling competition. Behind it at number two is Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which is holding strong in its third weekend in theaters, making $14.5 million, which puts its domestic total past $329 million and its worldwide total at $720 million.

In addition to being a significant box office hit, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also been shown to be doing incredibly well critically. The film currently has an A CinemaScore and a 90% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, signaling it as both a critical and word-of-mouth success.
