Walt Disney Animated Studios has continued promoting their upcoming animated film, Hexed with the release of its newest trailer:
CinemaCon attendees received the initial peek at Disney’s newest addition to their animated collection back in April, and this trailer reveal is the most recent information shared, which has lead to many reactions online – from opinions about the questionable descriptions of the protagonist’s mother to questioning the origin of this film’s concept considering the first mentions of its synopsis said a teen boy was the lead but has since been swapped.
The story is about a teenage girl named Billie that is portrayed as an outcast, which is loudly displayed at the start of the teaser as she walks down a school hallway through glares and whispers from her peers, but discovers she has magical powers during a restroom visit before class on what is seemingly like any other day.
The discovery happens when she reaches for her bracelet with a purple stone that she accidentally breaks then drops onto the floor as she hurries to prepare an essay while sitting in a stall – then the bracelet is consumed in a purple glow before lurching back towards her hand. This moment propels Billie onto a path of self discovery quite literally as she later travels to a magical realm where she is greeted by two other prominent characters that presumably act as spirit guides as she enters the world of the witches, Hexe.
This will be the studio’s 65th animated feature film since the initial release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. Directed by seasoned Disney Animation creators, Fawn Veerasunthorn (Wish) and Jason Hand (Moana 2) with the voice talents of Hailee Steinfeld (voiced Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse franchise & Anna in Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There) as Billie & Rashida Jones (has voice credits in Robot Chicken, The Simpsons & Disney’s Inside Out) as her mother, Alice; Tracy Ullman (voiced Grecklin in Disney’s Onward plus credits in other Disney works & voiced Thunderella in unofficial Snow White sequel, Happily Ever After) & Stephen Fry (narrated the animated show Pocoyo and has voice credits for other Disney works including Mickey and the Roadster Racers & Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) voicing Billie’s spirit guides, Ms. Quill the talking feather pen & Elias Quire the magical journal.
Hexed will be viewable in theaters beginning November 25, 2026 in time for the holiday season.
