Spaceballs 2 is gearing up to move forward. One of the stars of the sequel excitedly confirmed that the sequel is going to begin filming in just a matter of days.
Originally released in 1986, Spaceballs continues to be one of the most beloved comedies to hit the big screen, while also remaining a highlight of director Mel Brooks’ illustrious career. With Bull Pullman as Lone Starr and Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, Spaceballs serves as a spoof on the Star Wars saga, with Lone Starr learning the ways of the Schwartz from Yogurt to defeat the treacherous President Skroob.
Gad, star of Frozen and Beauty And The Beast, is one of two newcomers joining the cast of Spaceballs 2. Pullman and Moranis are also returning, along with Mel Brooks and Daphne Zuniga. Also included is Pullman’s son, Lewis Pullman.
Gad is not only starring in the film, but he’s also taking up a producer role. As he told Collider at the Toronto International Film Festival, he brought the idea for the sequel to Brooks around three years ago. But he also told Collider a special bit of information that they were the first to get from him.
“You’re the first person I’m telling this to: I’m leaving TIFF to fly to Australia to start shooting the movie,” he said.
