Variety reports that Seobok, a recent South Korean sci-film with Squid Game star Gong Yoo will launch in North America next month via streaming platform Rakuten Viki.
Seobok is licensed by distributor WellGo USA. The film will be available exclusively through Rakuten Viki’s TVOD for $2.99. Rakuten Viki owns exclusive rights for the movie for just two weeks in the US. and Canada. Its window of exclusivity goes from February 1 to February 15, but the movie will be available for a full 60 days on TVOD.
Gong (Goblin, The Silent Sea) stars as a retired security agent tasked with moving the first human clone (played by Park Bo-gum) to a secure area. The clone is wanted by multiple terror groups for his additional telekinetic and self-healing powers. He becomes aware of his assets during transport and soon becomes ready to fight back anyone who stands in his way.
Seobok launched in South Korea last year in April as a hybrid in theaters and on Tving, CJ ENM’s streaming platform. Sarah Kim, senior VP of content and partnerships at Rakuten Viki said:
