After the runaway success of Sound Of Freedom earlier this summer, director Alejandro Monteverde is teaming up with distributor Angel Studios once again. This time, it’s for a film called Cabrini.
Starring Cristiana Dell’Anna, John Lithgow, David Morse, Giancarlo Giannini, and Frederico Castelluccio, the film follows Francesca Cabrini, a poor Italian immigrant who comes to New York City in the 19th century, and it chronicles her efforts to become a successful entrepreneur.
“Francesca Cabrini is one of the most inspiring and influential figures in modern history, and yet few know her story. Faced with seemingly insurmountable life obstacles, Cabrini chose instead to focus on how she could change the status quo in her time, and her impact on the world is still felt today,” Angel Studios CEO Liz Ellis said on Tuesday, according to Hollywood Reporter.
As stated, Angel Studios saw massive success earlier this year with Sound Of Freedom, which went on to gross over $180 million domestically, following the story of Tim Ballard, former Homeland Security agent embarking on his own journey to bring child traffickers to the justice they deserve. Angel Studios has also put out other faith-based works, such as Passion Of The Christ and The Chosen.
Cabrini is set to release March 8th, 2024.
