The upcoming film, The Julia Set, will star Chase Infiniti and was written and directed by Niki Byrne. Following its premiere at TIFF, Sony Pictures Classics has swooped in to acquire the U.S. rights, and a strong foothold in the international rights.
The film currently holds a 70% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the film drawing plenty of attention as this is Chase Infiniti’s first major feature film role post One Battle After Another. The synopsis for the film is as follows:
Infiniti plays math prodigy Julia Fischer, who is recruited into an elite prep course culminating in the most punishing exam in mathematics. At the same time, she begins to fall for her charismatic teaching assistant Pascal (Christopher Briney). As Pascal crumbles under the weight of his overbearing father Aleksander’s (Jason Isaacs) suffocating expectations, it is Pascal’s mother, Anne (Gillian Anderson), who helps Julia recognize and seize a moment of opportunity that will help to define her future.
Director Niki Byrne talked about how growing up, she failed to grasp the scale of what went into making films. She thanked SPC heads Michael Barker and Tom Bernard for their part in keeping the movies alive. She showed gratitude for SPC giving her the opportunity to release her film in its intended medium, “…in a darkened theater, together.”
