Sony Picks up Sam Raimi’s ‘A Man in the Dark’

Raimi at work, on set

Sony has picked up the distribution rights to a new suspense film being produced by Sam Raimi called A Man in the Dark. The film is still in the development stage, though a few plot details have already emerged.

The story is centered around a group of young thieves who break into a blind man’s house. They are sure that they will walk away with an easy haul, only to have the tables are turned when they find themselves trapped against a man with dark secrets and skills of his own. The thriller was written and will be directed by Fede Alvarez, who last year directed the remake of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead.

Sam Raimi is also currently working on a few other horror/suspense films, including Poltergeist (covered here) as well as the Evil Dead sequel alongside Alvarez. Though as of yet, A Man in the Dark doesn’t seem to include supernatural elements, the pair’s experience with the horror genre should have viewers on the edge of their seats when the movie is released.
