Marvel Entertainment is back with a new comic book movie sequel for 2021. Critically panned yet box office smash film Venom will get its sequel titled Let There Be Carnage, with Tom Hardy returning as the titular role as well as Michelle Williams, with new additions to the cast including Woody Harrelson, Naomie Harris, and Stephen Graham. Andy Serkis, known for playing Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, will direct the picture.
The trailer gets right into the action, portraying our protagonist Eddie Brock wrestling with his alter ego Venom, as we see a more relatable side of Hardy, the man known for menacing, mask-wearing characters like Bane in The Dark Knight Rises and the titular character in Mad Max: Fury Road. We catch glimpses of the villain, played by Harrelson who rocks hair on his iconic bald head and transforms into a dangerous counterpoint to Hardy’s lethal protector as well as a road raging Naomie Harris, building anticipation for what this movie is offering us.
We witness the work of legendary cinematographer Robert Richardson throughout the fast-paced trailer, whose known for his work with directors Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, and Quentin Tarantino (he and Richardson both were nominated last year for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood). While its predecessor wasn’t well-received by critics, it seems to be guaranteed a box office success for Sony and Marvel as the former still got audiences into seats.
