Multinational conglomerate Sony has recently set two dates on the release schedule for two Sony-Marvel films in the near future. These projects will be part of their Spider-Man universe (a.k.a. the Spider-verse) and are projected to hit theaters on July 10, 2020 and October 2, 2020. Even though no specifics were given during this announcement by the company, many have been speculating as to what these films will be. Justin Kroll from Variety initially broke the news on Twitter.
Sony dates two untitled Marvel-Spidey spin-offs. First is a non-sequel opening July 10, 2020, second is a sequel opening Oct. 2, 2020. My guesses are MORBIUS for July date and Venom sequel for October. story coming shortly

Following hot on the heels of the extreme box office success of Venom despite its thrashing at the hands of film critics, it would seem likely that one of these mysterious release dates could belong to a sequel to Venom. It could also be any other number of possible spin-off films based on other villains from the Spider-Man comics, such as the upcoming take on Morbius starring Jared Leto, or the on-again off-again version of Black Cat that now seems to be moving forward. With dates already set and many characters to choose from in the world of the iconic web-slinger, it seems there will be no slowing the momentum of the Sony’s Spider-verse.
However, fans may find themselves wary of these movies, as the Spider-Man universe films from Sony have not only been released at an unrelenting pace, but have also received mixed reactions from fans and critics. Tepid reactions started with Spider-Man 3 (featuring the first take on Venom) and continued with the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films of the early 2010’s. Following the divided opinions on Venom (with many seeing it as a thrilling, fun adventure, while others believed it to be a loud, jumbled mess), many seem to prefer Sony and Marvel’s version of Spider-Man now seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. There is quite a bit of Spidey-hype and excitement building in anticipation of next year, as Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man is set to appear in both Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Aside from that, yet another Sony-Marvel Spider-Man film will release in December of this year, as the visually enticing and humorous Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hits theaters on December 13. Have loyal Spider-Man fans and moviegoers had enough of the friendly neighborhood superhero on the big screen? We’ll see soon enough, but as long as they attract box office attention, these Spider-Man universe films will continue to be pumped out.
