On saturday, Snow White starring Gal Gadot and Rachel Zegler premiered in Los Angeles. The premiere lacked a red carpet press due to complications from Gadot and Zegler. Both actors however appeared in camera interviews for Disney.
When talking about the carpet free premiere, Andy Grotelueschan who plays sleepy in the movie was quoted by saying,
“The energy here is amazing. There are so many kids that’re participating. They’re animals. There’s a deer. There are rabbits. In this day in age, I don’t think you can please everybody. But I do know this movie was made with love and reverance.”
At the El Cap, no one introduced Snow White which is not out of the ordinary there. Gadot and Zegler received many hugs and applause from their performances as well as the release of Waiting on a Wish which is the first single from the film’s soundtrack.
With the recent backlash surrounding Zegler who is Colombian heritage playing a classically white skinned princess, she criticized the original princess by arguing,
“(It’s) extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power. People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White, where it’s like, yeah, it is-because it needed that.”
Zegler recently performed waiting on a wish at a European event in Spain where she was alongside Snow White’s director, Marc Webb. Gadot has been making her rounds on talk shows including The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America and Live with Mark and Kelly.
Snow White will be released in the United States this week on March 21st.
