The release of Avengers: Doomsday is just around the corner, with fans eagerly anticipating several iconic characters finally crossing paths on the big screen. Fans aren’t the only ones excited, however, as one of the films own stars, Simu Liu, has voiced his own excitement on working alongside several past Comic Book Movie stars.
Simu Liu had the headlining role in Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings as the titular hero. With it being the first time that Shang-Chi has ever been adapted into film, he became one of the prominent new faces of the MCU going forward and is a leading candidate to join the next Avengers lineup.
Shang-Chi won’t be the only one sharing the screen with the other Avengers in Doomsday. The casting reveal for Doomsday revealed that the stars of the Fox-era X-Men films will appear as well, including Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto and Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
TikTok user @hey__arthur posted a video of Liu at New York Comic Con excitedly elaborating on how it felt for him to work with such a large ensemble cast. He specifically mentioned both McKellen and Stewart, explaining that those were two talents he grew up watching and loving.
ScreenRant noted that Liu tiptoed around plot elements very carefully, careful not to give away even if he had scenes with either seasoned talent. He did say, in a non-spoiler way, that it would be great to share scenes with them, but didn’t confirm if that was the case or not.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18th, 2026.
