Simon Kinberg On Board To Produce New ‘Star Trek’ Film

Audiences will once again be taken to the final frontier. A brand new Star Trek movie is in the works, with Paramount going where no man has gone before to bring the film to the big screen.

Little has been given as to the actual plot of the film. The only details so far is that the story will take place before the iconic USS Enterprise set off on her mission.

Reportedly, Seth Grahame-Smith will be taking up screenwriting for the film. Toby Haynes will be responsible for directing. Haynes has worked in the realm of sci-fi before, when he directed several episodes of the critically acclaimed Star Wars spinoff, Andor.

ScreenRant, who noted the news came from Puck originally, reported that the creative team for the film includes Simon Kinberg as a producer. Kinberg, on top of producing films like Logan and the mega-successful Deadpool & Wolverine, was recently confirmed to be taking up a brand new trilogy of films in the Star Wars universe.

Within the years since its 1966 television debut, Star Trek has already dabbled multiple times with stories set before what is usually established. One of the most popular of these was the 2001 show Star Trek: Enterprise, which followed the crew of the Enterprise at the dawn of space travel capability for the human race.
