Short Film ‘Kung Fury’ is Now Online

Did you know you can now watch Kung Fury completely for free on YouTube? What’s that? Don’t know what Kung Fury is? You know that crazy David Hasselhoff music video that came out a little while ago? Oh, you don’t? That seems unlikely, considering it currently has more than twelve million views on Youtube. It appears an explanation is in order.

During an unfortunate series of events a friend of Kung Fury is assasinated by the most dangerous kung fu master criminal of all time; Adolf Hitler, a.k.a Kung Führer. Kung Fury decides to travel back in time, to Nazi Germany, in order to kill Hitler and end the Nazi empire once and for all.

Kung Fury is an independent short film – described as “a love letter to the 80’s” – written, directed by, and starring Swedish filmmaker David Sanberg, aka Laser Unicorns. As you do with most insane independent ideas these days, Sanberg raised the money he needed through crowdfunding (Kickstarter, to be specific). At some point, 80’s icon David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider) got involved, providing the film’s theme song, “True Survivor.” In order to build some hype, the song’s aforementioned music video  was released ahead of the film.

Kung Fury has been getting some pretty good reviews for a half-hour film with so much kung-fu, gunplay, Nazis, vikings, and dinosaurs. Also, it premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, so make of that what you will.

Kung Fury can be seen in its entirety below, at no charge, but is also available for purchase on the official site.
