Sharon Stone added another element of chatter to the marketing campaign of the upcoming thriller sequel Another Simple Favor. The Basic Instinct star weighed in by stating she was cast and dropped from the film. Stone commented on Instagram, “I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all LOVED it .”
The circulated comment was originally posted on an E! News reel captioned, “We have a simple favor to ask: Can someone tell us what’s going on between Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively? #HotGoss #S1E41”. Stone’s comment undoubtedly fuels the fire of an already shaky campaign. Lively was making only her second public appearance since a highly publicized legal battle with her former co-star Justin Baldoni. People have also been speculating about friction between Lively and Kendrick (which has been denied).
Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy), Lively, and Kendrick, were attached to the original A Simple Favor, and recently attended the world premiere of the sequel at SXSW. The film navigates a murder at Emily’s (Lively) extravagant wedding in Italy. It scored 80% on Rotten Tomatoes from 25 reviews. Amazon MGM Studios set the release for May 1.
As far as Stone’s comments, “You have to be cast before you’re dropped. She was never cast,” says a source close to Feig.
