Another lawsuit has been leveled against comedy actor Tyler Perry. Much like a previous case, this one has been filed on the grounds of sexual misconduct on the part of Perry.
The timeframe of the actions in question comes from around 2016, the time that Boo! A Madea Halloween was in production, and even extended several times after that. Reports indicate that Perry allegedly conducted sexual actions without the consent of the accusing party, actor Mario Rodriguez. Going further, however, there’s also claims brought against Perry that alleged he offered money and continued sexual actions for more work in front of the camera.
Deadline noted that this is the second time Rodriguez’s representative, Jonathan Delshad, has brought charges against Perry recently. The previous time was on the behalf of Derek Dixon, with charges akin to those from Rodriguez. Perry’s representative, Alex Spiro, hasn’t taken these claims lightly. Spiro called the new suit a “money grab,” while also insisting the previous suit was a failure, although it bounced around from courtroom to courtroom.
Deadline also noted that the official filing is rather short and straightforward. Lionsgate themselves, spelled “Lions Gate,” was pulled into the matter as they were the distributors of Boo! A Madea Halloween, being called out specifically for allowing Perry’s actions to continue despite previous allegations.
Part of the filing read, “for Lions Gate’s failure to act and enforce their morality clauses and other safeguards, the sexual assaults would not have occurred as Perry would not have been in a position of power.”
