Surely, 90s teens were excited to find out that a Baywatch movie, based on the TV series of the same name, is in the works.
With Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directing and Dwayne Johnson (San Andreas) and Zac Efron (Neighbors) cast as the leading males, the only thing left to figure out is who will star in the female role. The short list is, for now, down to Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Nina Dobrev (Let’s Be Cops), Alexandra Shipp (Straight Outta Compton), Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf), Bianca Santos (The DUFF), and Denyse Tontz (Big Time Rush).
While this is just a list for the female lead, it’s not to say that some of the other candidates wouldn’t get cast in one of the supporting roles instead. Although production isn’t slated to start until early 2016, a logline was released. The film follows a very austere veteran lifeguard (Johnson) who must team up with a younger, but more perverse lifeguard (Efron) in order to save their beach from the oil tycoons who threaten its well-being.
There is no set release date for Baywatch as of yet.
