The space-set, sci-fi comedy The Something just made some big additions to their cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seth Rogen (The Night Before), Zach Galifianakis (Masterminds), and Bill Hader (Inside Out) have joined the Rodney Rothman-directed comedy.
Rothman’s directorial debut follows a crew of astronauts – played by Rogen, Galifianakis, and Hader – who are stuck in space for years and eventually find another ship. The film also stars Rose Byrne (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), likely as one of the crew members on the mysterious ship.
Casting Rogen marks a reunion for the actor with Byrne who play a married couple in the Neighbors films while also reuniting Rogen and Hader who played police partners in Superbad. The pair have never starred as leads with Galifianakis.
Adding the trio definitely propels The Something into one of the most high-profile upcoming comedies. Rothman was previously a writer for the boxing comedy Grudge Match as well as the comedy sequel 22 Jump Street. He also worked as a writer on the cult sitcom Undeclared which starred Rogen.
Rogen is currently at the start of a busy year with Kung Fu Panda 3 currently in theaters. He’ll also be collaborating with pal James Franco on Zeroville and The Disaster Artist, and will be seen in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and the animated Sausage Party in which Hader also lent his voice. Hader will also be seen in The Angry Birds Movie and The BFG. Galifianakis will star in the aforementioned Masterminds while also appearing in Keeping Up With the Jonses, Tulip Fever, and The Lego Batman Movie.
We’ll have more on The Something as it develops.
