Steven Spielberg’s next project is picking up, as the second actor has now been announced to appear in his upcoming film about his childhood. The Pineapple Express actor Seth Rogen is set to play the filmmaker’s favorite uncle in the untitled pic from Amblin. Michelle Williams is the first star to come on board to play a role inspired by Spielberg’s mom, but will have a separate and original personality from his actual mother.
This will also be the first time Spielberg will contribute to screenwriting duties since 2001 when he co-wrote A.I with Tony Kushner, who will also be joining the writing team.
Spielberg has always been very secretive about the cast in any of the movies he is involved with. Now that the adult roles are coming together, there are still roles such as Spielberg at different ages.
Spielberg has always talked about how growing up in Arizona was a big influence on his story themes and actual characters. HBO had made a documentary in 2017 about the filmmaker diving into his past but this untitled film will be the first time the audience will see it from his perspective.
The film will start shooting this summer with an expectation it will be released sometime in 2022.
