If 2020 wasn’t strange enough, it turns out that Seth Rogen, the actor, writer, and director known for his foul-mouthed comedies like Pineapple Express, Superbad, and Sausage Party, was actually one of the many people brought on to rewrite Robert Downey Jr’s big budget flop, Dolittle.
This news comes from Seth Rogen himself, who confirmed that he was brought on to help improve the script and to make it funnier while on the Howard Stern Show, “I will only say this because it was reported and I will tread lightly because I am close with many of the people involved, but I did that [helped rewrite the script] on the Dr. Dolittle film a little bit. On the grand scale of positions to be in, it’s a cushy position to be in. Stakes are low for you personally in that role, which is nice.”
Dolittle was ravaged by critics and audiences alike when it was released earlier this year, with the script being the primary focus of scorn. Many people felt it all over the place, like it had been written by multiple people with conflicting visions. Rogen’s revelation confirms many of our suspicions as well as shed some light on why the film was a tonal mess.
