Tom Holland, best known for portraying Peter Parker in the MCU’s most recent Spider-Man films, joins Christopher Nolan and a plethora of talented actors for an upcoming film.
The film will be Nolan’s first since releasing Oppenheimer, which won 7 Academy Awards including Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars (IMDb).
The film is based on Homer’s poem from Ancient Greece. Matt Damon will play the role of the protagonist Odysseus as he makes his way home following the Trojan War. Aside from Damon and Holland, the cast includes Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and others. Although pictures have been revealed of Tom Holland on set, his character has yet to be announced.
ScreenRant has taken the liberty of describing the pictures of Holland “One image shows Holland in a brown cloak standing just in front of Nolan on a large wooden ship, with the latter sporting a red life jacket. Crew members are visible behind the pair, attending to the ship’s rigging.” And “…beneath his brown cloak, he is wearing a wine-red tunic, of sorts. The other images feature [Holland] chatting with crew members and one also shows him talking to an unknown actor in costume, who is leaning against the ship’s railing. Finally, another image provides a look at a mysterious character with a beard, who holds a walking stick and has a black leather jacket draped over what appears to be a brown robe.” The ships are part of the practical effects built for the film and put on water.
There is not a lot of other information revealed about the film but it is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2026.
