A24 has linked up with owners of the fashion brand Rodarte, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, for a visually spellbinding mood piece in Woodshock. The designers both co-wrote and co-directed the project together.
The film stars Kirsten Dunst as Theresa, a woman spiraling out of control after losing someone close to her. Mixed with the effects of a deadly drug, the film takes Theresa and audiences to a state somewhere in between dreaming and reality, blurring the lines between emotion and logic. It is an exploration of isolation, paranoia, and grief that aims to take the audience beyond the conventions of plot and genre.
If anything, the designers have clearly imbued the film with electric and hypnotic style, elevating their eye for the dramatic into the film world.
