Chloë Grace Moretz (If I Stay) will be starring alongside John Malkovich (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and Louis C.K. (Better Things) in the upcoming film I Love You, Daddy. Not only will Louis C.K. act in the film, but he also penned the screenplay and directed the movie. However, it looks like the R-rated film will focus on an extremely troubling subject matter: Moretz’s character’s romantic feelings towards a man fifty-one years her senior, who is ironically the idol of her father.
The film is still marketed as a comedy, so hopefully it will carefully handle the rather difficult premise with the respect and self-aware commentary. The movie also draws from Manhattan by Woody Allen, taking its inspiration from a director with an extremely controversial personal life.
The film will also feature an excellent supporting cast, which will be interesting to see in the black-and-white footage. Rose Byrne (This Is Where I Leave You), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Helen Hunt (Batman vs Superman), and Edie Falco (The Sopranos) will all act alongside each other, offering a very promising set of performances in a film with such a heavy plotline.
The new trailer for the film can be viewed below.
For those interested in the movie, it will reach general theaters on November 17th of this year.
