Sean Teale Joins ‘Rosaline’, 20th Century’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ Reimagined Feature

Deadline reports that Sean Teale, star of Little Voice and The Gifted, is joining Kaitlyn Dever, Kyle Allen, and Isabela Merced in the lead cast of Rosaline. 20th Century Studios coined this film as reimagined Romeo and Juliet.

Teale will play Dario, a rugged soldier and quick-witted gentleman who finds himself accidentally tangled up in the Romeo and Juliet drama. More about how his character influences the rest of the plot has not been revealed yet.

The script is based on the novel When You Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and is a modern twist of the classic Shakespeare tale. The most famous love story ever told will be seen through the eyes of Julie’s cousin Rosaline (Dever), who is described as a sharp but idealistic young woman. She also just so happens to be Romeo’s recent ex.

According to Deadline, the film had been at MGM but recently hit the market. After being acquired by 20th Century, the studios brought Karen Maine to direct. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the pair who wrote (500) Days of Summer, penned the film’s script.

Teale was also the lead in Syfy’s Incorporated and the action movie Survivor. Stay tuned for more news and what lies ahead for this modern retelling of a classic Shakespearean story!
