

Sean Bean, an actor known for his roles in fantasy-based Movies and TV Shows, such as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Ned Stark in the first season of Game of Thrones, has been cast to play the Sheriff of Nottingham in a new Robin Hood MGM+ TV series. Bean’s most recent roles include the TV series Snowpiercer and the 2023 film Knights of the Zodiac.
Previous actors who have played the role include Alan Rickman in the Kevin Costner-led Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), Matthew McFayden in the Ridley Scott-directed and Russell Crowe-led Robin Hood (2010), and most recently Ben Mendelsohn in 2018’s Robin Hood, starring Taron Egerton. This new TV series’ Robin Hood is set to be played by newcomer Jack Patton, whose only other credit is in another upcoming project still in post-production: War Machine, alongside actors like Alan Ritchson, Jai Courtney, and Dennis Quaid.
This new Robin Hood TV Series is being developed for MGM+ and will feature John Glenn and Jonathan English as writers, with Glenn acting as showrunner. Glenn’s credits include writing and executive producing TV series like Allegiance (2015) and SEAL Team (2018-19), as well as last year’s Elevation, which starred Anthony Mackie. English’s credits include producing SEAL Team as well and acting as co-producer on the Bert Kreischer comedy The Machine, released in 2023.
